This is best achieved through the “Book-Loving Girl” side quest, which introduces Rumella, a follower who can read any book regardless of stat requirements. By developing Rumella, she becomes a high-magic companion.

For players with poor item luck, the “Endless Sands” side quest line offers additional magic-boosting items. As for building a private army, there are two paths: first, if the protagonist’s virtue exceeds 20, completing “The Sultan’s Suspicion” will trigger army recruitment. Second, studying the “Amulet of Wind” may yield the rare “Giant Tornado” item. The amulet itself is a reward in the Endless Sands line.

The city gate tool also has two sources. If long-term investment succeeds, the inventor will provide either a drill or explosives, both usable to open the gate.
